ANNOUNCEMENT ANDREI TARKOVSKIY INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM The Andrei Tarkovskiy Foundation in Moscow, the Athens Byzantine and Christian Museum and the International Relations for Culture organize the Symposium: ANDREI TARKOVSKIY: MAN, NATURE AND GOD on the 6th, 7th and 8th of December 2002 at the Byzantine Museum, in Athens. Athens was chosen during the 1st International Meeting in Moscow in 1988 as the most appropriate place to host the International Symposium on the year of the completion of 70 years from the birth of the famous Russian director who undoubtedly is considered one of the most significant film creators in the world. The Symposium is carried out under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Russian Embassy and will de realized with the collaboration of the Greek Film-Archive and the Greek Film Center and the International Film Festival of Thessaloniki, which has expressed the wish to transfer the exhibition and to project the directors films in Thessaloniki. Publicity Sponsors are the newspaper Ta Nea and Ert. The Symposium will include a photographic exhibition of the directors life, as well as an exhibition of his designs, posters and costumes of his films and his books. Also a movie theatre in Athens will project his movies. Prominent personalities of the Greek and the International cinema have been invited to participate in this significant event, as well as famous theoretical analysts of the work of the great creator. The Symposium will attend journalists, academicians, students, intellectuals and opinion leaders, as well as Russian collaborators of the director, actors and screenwriters of his movies. Special publicity will be given to TV, radio, and press.
